FAQ about the 2007 DSNA Conference

Q. When is registration due?
A. May 1, 2007. Please download the registration form (PDF).

Q. Will there be a banquet?
A. Yes, tentatively scheduled for Saturday night, June 16th, at the Quadrangle Club.

Q. Will there be an excursion?
A. An architectural boat tour/cruise of Chicago is planned for the afternoon or evening of Wednesday, the 13th.

Q. Where will the meeting take place?
A. In beautiful Breasted Hall at the Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago.

Q. How are the dormitory rooms arranged?
A. The dorm accommodations consist of two separate bedrooms which share a bathroom and a kitchen area. You can see a layout and some photos here.

Q. Are the dorms air-conditioned?
A. Yes.

Q. Are the dorms handicapped-accessible?
A. There are wheelchair-accessible rooms and an elevator. If you will need a wheelchair-accessible room, or a room close to the elevator, please note that on your registration form.

Q. I would prefer to stay at a hotel. Are there hotels nearby?
A. The Lake Shore Ramada has rooms available, at the special conference rate of $95/night.

Q. Are there restaurants close to the lecture hall?
A. There are a few restaurants within five or six blocks, but conference attendees will be able to take their meals in the Barlett Dining Hall, midway between the dormitories and the Oriental Institute.

Q. Will there be internet access during the conference?
A. Yes, for those staying in the dorm. (In order to register for internet access, the University needs your date of birth.)

Q. Will there be a special dictionaries exhibit at the Regenstein Library during the conference?
A. Why, yes! More information will be available soon on the library website. The exhibit will include archival material from the DAE.
